Our school activity videos

We hope you will find this information of some use, as an introduction to D’Eyncourt Care Club and welcome you warmly into our club.
You are invited at any time to visit us to see the club at work and to discuss any points that concern you.
If your child attends the club we assure you that we will try to do everything which will help make your child’s time with us as happy and enjoyable as possible.

Welcome

All children, if they request, are given a Club Busy Book which they can get out at any time if they want to sit and chill. They can request activities to be placed into the book by club staff or they can manage it in a way which suits them.
Some activities are timetabled i.e Computers, art and crafts, outside games, Table top games and colouring sheets are the activities which we provide within the club. We like to organise activities each day in co-operation with the children. We appreciate that the children have been working hard all day within the school environment and will need time to unwind at their own pace.
We have a designated part of the club for the purpose of own choice activities to allow the childen to take control of and manage
their time.

All of the children who come to the club are pupils of the school. Key stage one children will be collected by a member of the club staff from the classrooms at the end of the school day. They will then be escorted along to the club.

The club has developed a full health and safety policy.  The club carries out a fire drill at regular intervals to ensure both children and staff are aware of the correct procedures in the unlikely event of a fire.

We value the input that we receive from our parents and encourage them to approach us with any concerns they may have.

Behaviour

At D’Eyncourt Care Club we are aiming for the highest standards possible from all children and ultimately we expect more children to accept responsibility for their own actions.  To do this we know that children must have a clear understanding of what is and what is not acceptable. The rules we have at the club are there to ensure that children have a happy purposeful experience and we are strongly of the belief that parental support and good communication between home and club is the best way of making sure that if problems arise we can sort them out quickly.
The club staff along with the children review the behaviour and rules which are  then  encouraged by all. Rules are listed within the club to encourage this. Up to 4 or 5 rules are displayed in a positive way. The staff have a reward system to encourage the behaviour set out within the club.
Children are made aware that bullying, racial harassment of any kind will not be  tolerated and that parents are welcome to view the club's policy regarding bullying.

Children who misbehave in the club may be asked to sit away from other children and spend a little time thinking about their actions (timeout).
If the child continues to misbehave or demonstrates extreme bad behaviour this will be recorded in an incident book any reports made will be discussed with guardians on collection of child. If bad behaviour is constant and several reports written then a  week's ban from club may be implemented.

All staff recognise pleasing behaviour and praise children. A reward system of smiley faces are given to children who demonstrate good behaviour.

Parents / guardians are requested to inform club by telephone if children are not going to be able to attend their session. Club needs to be informed before 8.00am if child will not be attending the morning session and by 10.30am if they are not attending the afternoon session, otherwise a cancellation fee will be charged.

If a child is prescribed medicine by a doctor which has to be taken in club time it can be brought to club, but it MUST be accompanied by the appropriate form which gives details of time it is to be taken and dosage. The medicines should be given to the club staff by the class teacher on collection of the child. Parents / Guardians will be contacted immediately if the child has a serious accident or is unwell in club. When hospital attention is necessary every effort will be made to contact the parent. A record of home and work telephone numbers are kept at the club for this purpose. Parents / Guardians are requested to notify any changes of telephones and addresses.

Every care will be taken to ensure that the rights of the child are considered and we will encourage the development of their cultural and religious identity.

Money and property brought into club is done so at children’s own personal risk and the staff at the club will not be responsible for any loss or damage.

Each child is treated as an individual, regardless of gender, ethnic origin, disability, religion or home background.
All children have equal access to the resourses within the club and are given every opportunity to develop to their full potential.
The children are encouraged to care about themselves, their environment and each other.
They are encouraged to be polite to each other and to any visitors and other parents to encourage development in citizenship.
The children regularly update the club’s mission statement and it is displayed within the club.

Once your child starts the club they will be cared for in a way intended to meet their needs through play and recreation with regard to their developmental stages.
However, legislation provides for you a way of formally registering a complaint if you feel a complaint is necessary.

The procedure is as follows:-

  1. Informal discussion with the head and other staff.
  2. Formal complaint to the governing body submitted in writing.
  3. Formal complaint to Ofsted, the registering authority.
In all cases the first step is to see the Headteacher for an informal discussion of any problem

Guardians, When showing an interest on having their child/children admitted to the club are asked to complete various forms and are given an information pack. The admission limit for our club is 24 children.

Guardians are allowed to view the policies and procedures document for the club at any time.

During the school year the club is closed for a number of in service training days and during school holidays.
A local school runs a club during the holidays. If you call into club we will let you have their details.

Morning
8.00am – 8.55am Children will be allowed onto the playground from 8.45am. Key stage one children will be escorted to their playground where a member of school staff will be on duty from that time.

We consider that caring for your child is a partnership between home and club and therefore actively encourage the involvement of guardians in club. A vital part of our overall liaison with guardians is the informal discussions which take place during the dropping off and collecting of children. The head teacher, club manager and staff are always willing to discuss your child through informal discussions at any time.

  1. To ensure the club is a caring environment where every member has something to offer.
  2. To encourage children to care about themselves, their belongings and each other.
  3. To develop self discipline moral judgements and tolerance to allow team work and co-operation with each other.
  4. To work closely with all parents and guardians for the good of the children to allow them to develop in all areas of their developmental stages.
  5. For everyone to achieve to their full potential while having fun in a caring, safe environment.
We look forward to seeing you at the club. We will make every endeavour to make your time with us a fun memorable one.
