Our school activity videos

We have been lucky enough to have received funding to begin another Comenius Project this year. We have new partners from schools in Spain, Italy, Bulgaria and Cheshire.

The topic will be
'Let me see your country through your eyes.'

The aim of the partnerships are:

  • To provide training for pupils and teachers
  • To promote intercultural dialogue to improve the concept of European citizenship
  • To improve the language skills of students and teachers
  • To develop to the use of new ICT skills as a way of communicating with other cultures, i.e video conferencing and blogging
  • To provide a basis for a broad and balanced curriculum through the sharing of information about cultures, languages, celebrations and lifestyle
  • To make teachers aware of teaching strategies from different countries as a way of professional development

The children will take part in various activities that will help them to learn about their own culture and those of our partner schools. We will be making video presentations about our school and our city and watching the videos that have been made by our partner schools. The children will have the opportunity to learn Spanish and Bulgarian words and phrases. We will celebrate each other’s festivals. The children will keep in touch with the other children via email and video conferencing.

The first Teacher Exchange Visit will take place in Ceip La Paloma, Azuqueca de Henares in Spain during November 2008.

D’Eyncourt were invited to La Paloma School in Madrid during November to take part in the Comenius Project.  Miss Foster and Miss Williams went along to learn about how other schools work.

La Paloma School is in the outskirts of Madrid, in an area called Alcala de Henares.

Miss Foster and Miss Williams had a tour around this suburb where they visited a local bee museum.  Where they learned about the local honey, how it is made and bee keeping all around the World.

Miss Foster and Miss Williams also visited the children in La Paloma School.  They saw all their classrooms and some of their lessons.  The children there are very lucky because their school was only built in 1998
so it’s practically new!

The children at La Paloma come from lots of different countries and can speak several different languages.  Some children acted out a play for the visiting teachers, to show how much they had learnt in their English lessons and they were very good!

Miss Foster and Miss Williams took a guided tour around Madrid City Centre on an open top bus - it was a bit windy!
Miss Foster and Miss Williams said, “We had a great time and learned lots about schools in Spain!  It made us realise all the great things we have at D’Eyncourt, that some schools don’t have, however, it also gave us some great ideas to try!”

We recently held a competition for the Juniors at our school to design a Comenuis Logo.

This was to get the children involved from the start and we were very impressed with not only their design ideas but their enthusiasm!
Thank you to everyone that took part and well done to our winners!
