The snail Henri Matisse
In the Autumn Term Year 5 have being learning about computer graphic modelling.
They have created their own versions of the Henri Matisse picture 'The Snail'.

Their pictures have been created in the MicroSoft Word program - using the Drawing Toolbar's 'Freeform Tool' to draw geometric and irregular objects that can be manipulated - moved, rotated, coloured and resized.

Below Y5 have used a combination of straight and curved lines, geometric shapes and auto shapes which have then been grouped to create clipart creatures of their imagination.
In December both Y5 and Y6 children used their I.C.T skills to create Christmas Cards for their parents.

Year 3/4 have been really busy during the Autumn term learning about Henry VIII and his 6 wives. The children enjoyed making a collage picture of their favourite wife using a variety of fabrics, felt, fur, lace and sequins.

Henry VIII's first wife and mother of Mary I
Catherine was divorced by Henry in 1533 and died in 1536.

Henry VIII's second wife and mother of Elizabeth.
Henry was by now tired of Anne and wanted rid of her. He had no intention of waiting for a divorce so his ministers invented evidence showing that Anne had been unfaithful and had plotted the death of the King. She was found guilty and was executed
in May 1536.

Henry VIII's third wife and mother or Edward VI.Although Henry became concerned when Jane did not become pregnant immediately, he was delighted when she gave birth to a son, Edward, in October 1538. Henry was very upset when Jane died a month later. On his deathbed,
Henry requested to be buried next to Jane.

Henry VIII's fourth wife. She was divorced after six months. The 24 year old German Princess arrived in England in December 1539, However, Henry was horrified when he saw her and demanded that his ministers find him a way out of the marriage. Unfortunately for Henry they could not and the marriage went ahead in January 1540. Anne was well provided for and lived out her days in England in comfort. She outlived Henry and died in 1557.

Henry VIII's fifth wife.

She was executed for adultery after two years of marriage.

Henry VIII's sixth wife. She outlived Henry and died in 1548. After Henry's death she married Edward's uncle, Thomas Seymour. Katherine Parr died in childbirth in 1548.

During the Spring Term in I.C.T, Year 2 have being learning how to use different tools in drawing programs such as Microsoft - Paint and 2Simple 2Paint a picture.
We have created Woodcut Animal Pictures (bold outlines with texture effects)

Y2 as part of their Art project and I.C.T lessons have looking at pictures by the artist Paul Klee for inspiration to create their own versions of his renouned work (using the brush and pencil tools, straight line tool and colour fills).

Paul Klee was fascinated by the way lines can create patterns and make pictures.  He loved to watch his pen move across the page.  Sometimes he used lines to create a sense of space, sometimes to suggest a person, an animal a tree or building.  He did not think it necessary to draw things as they are.  That many of his pictures are imaginative rather than realistic.

They also created pictures by the artist Mondrian who was famous for his geometric shaped art work and the use of
primary colours (using shape tools).

These pictures were inspired by some more Paul Klee paintings that are dreamlike, simple and colourful. Klee experimented a lot with all kinds of media.

We looked at lots of famous paintings showing different emotions, happy, sad, frightened etc and then we decided who we were going to paint and what emotion the portrait would show!
Seasonal Pictures - Winter Scenes
(Using a selection of different tools especially the sprayer tool to create lighting or rain/snow effects)

Finally their beautiful Spring Pictures which they have made into Easter cards!

On Thursday March 5th D'Eyncourt Primary School were involved with
'World Book Day' by dressing up as their favourite fictional character. Reception children drew a self portrait in their costumes during their computer lesson. Can you guess who they are?
Put your cursor over the pictures to reveal who the artists are!

World book day
This was a really fun activity that Year 4 did in their I.C.T lesson. The aim was to use a range of visual effects such as reflection or symmetry to test how symmetrical our faces are. As you can see depending on how you look at the camera or how your hair style is that day...
can have a big impact on the results!
