Our school activity videos
D'Eyncourt Primary School offers an education and environment for each child which is stimulating and demanding, enjoyable and valuable.

Each child is treated as an individual, regardless of gender, ethnic origin, disability, religion or home background.

All children will have an equal access to a broad and balanced curriculum and will be given every opportunity to fulfil his/her potential.

The children are encouraged to care about themselves, their work and each other. They are encouraged to be polite to visitors and staff, and grow an understanding of citizenship.

We have developed links with nursery schools, secondary schools, industry and the local community to enhance the opportunities for life long learning.

We ensure the involvement of staff and the governing body in the management and ongoing development and governance of the school.

The general aims and objectives of the school include:-

To ensure that the school is a caring community where every child is able to realise his/her potential, and their contribution to our community is recognised and valued.

To encourage children to care about themselves, their work and each other.

To develop self discipline, moral judgements and tolerance by working co-operatively with others both at school and in the community.

To have equality of opportunity regardless of race, gender, disability, special educational needs, religion or home background throughout all areas of the curriculum and school life.

To ensure that all children work to the best of their ability in all curriculum areas.

To work closely with parents keeping them informed of the progress their children are making at school.

To raise standards of achievement.

D'Eyncourt is now a one and a half form entry school, the children being admitted into the Reception Class in September.

The majority of children entering school have had some nursery experience. Most children will have attended the nursery at Long Knowle Primary School or Wodensfield Primary School. A teacher within school has specific responsibility to ensure smooth transition from Nursery to Foundation. All Foundation aged children will be in our Reception Class for three terms. Parents of the new children are invited along to the school prior to their children starting so that they can meet the staff who will be in contact with their children. The children will also be given the opportunity of visiting the school prior to their start.
Due to the number of children entering the school we have to be very flexible in our class organisation. It is not always possible to have a single aged class, and on occasions your child might well be taught in a 'vertically grouped' aged class. This, in practice, could well mean a child working alongside children a year older or younger than they are.

The children will experience at least one year being taught in our Key Stage 1 mobile classroom and the equivalent of one year in our Key Stage 2 mobile classroom.
