Our school activity videos

The school is supported by a P.F.A.  which in the past has provided the school with money and equipment.  The Association always welcome new faces and the officers currently are:

Chair: Mr P Bull
Treasurer: Mr B Foley

The P.F.A organise a variety of functions during the year such as the Christmas Disco and Summer Barbecue/Disco.  The school is fortunate to have its own bar facilities which is assembled for each function and provides a selection of drinks which make the events very professional and highly popular with the parents.

During the school year we organise a variety of fund raising events for both our own school funds and outside charities.
Although we buy most of our school materials out of our yearly budget account we always need extra funds to buy food for the Christmas Parties, ingredients for cooking activities and a wide variety of other materials used throughout the school. A big thank you to all our Santa's little helpers in preparing for our Christmas activities, many hands make light work.

We raise funds through the monthly “Own Clothes Day” on the last Friday of every month, when the children are allowed to wear their own clothes in school.  A nominal sum of 50p is collected from each child and is paid directly into school funds.  This is a purely optional activity.

At school we try to raise money for projects in the community.  Each year we hold raffles to help Compton Hospice and other charities.

On occasions the children make goods and organise their own sale within school to raise money for a variety of causes, including the World Wide Fund for Nature and Blue Peter Appeals, for example.

The school is in the centre of a busy community and we try to encourage strong links with the people within it.

At Harvest time, we donate produce to local charities  and we make visitors welcome during their visits to school at other occasions such as the Christmas Plays, Fayres and P.F.A. events.  Our School Choir visits local elderly people in residential homes.

During the year the school welcomes pupils from the local secondary schools who are on work experience placement.  Generally these are former pupils who come into school for a morning a week to gain experience of working with young children.

Trainee teachers from Wolverhampton University gain important work experience within school.  The students often spend a period of weeks with the class teacher and usually teach a class full time towards the end of their teaching practice.

As well as gaining useful work experience the students contribute in many ways to the life of the school and pupils enjoy seeing a new face!
