School meals are cooked on the premises and are paid for each Monday for the ensuing week or on a daily basis.

Each meal costs £1.80: please send this in a sealed envelope with the child’s name and class.

If you think, or want to find out, if you are eligible for free school meals, the necessary information can be obtained from the school or the Civic Centre.
Tel: 01902 556556

Children can partake in the school meal or, should they prefer, can bring sandwiches.  If sandwiches are being brought to school they must be in a plastic type, airtight container.  The children are supervised by lunch time staff both during the mealtime and afterwards on the playground.Water is provided with the midday meal whether it be the cooked meal or sandwiches, and squash is provided when available.  Sandwich children may bring a soft drink, no glass containers or fizzy drinks please.
The school is proud of its invitation to parents and friends on special occasions to join the children at such events as the Christmas and Easter lunches and they are always very popular!
Milk
A 330ml carton is available each day, if required, and the payment is made at the beginning of each term. (£8.00 for all children over 5). Please send this in a sealed envelope separate from dinner money as this is sent directly to the kitchen. Please mark the envelope with your child’s name and class.

Food can be divided into different groups.  We need to eat from each of the groups to stay healthy.  Food also gives the body energy it needs for growth and repair of our body, normal bodily functions like our heartbeat, breathing, and for activities such as walking, riding a bike, skateboarding or playing football.

Healthy Foods

We need to make sure we eat a balanced diet so that our body gets all the nutrients it needs.  By making just a few small changes to what we eat, we can help our body grow, and protect it against future illnesses.  Our bodies are a bit like a car: we need to keep topping up our fuel levels, otherwise we run out of energy; our bodies get fuel (energy) from nutrients that can be found in food and drinks; nutrients help to provide our bodies with the fuel it needs to work properly and stay healthy.  Our bodies also need water.  Water is not a nutrient but it is important that we keep our water levels up, just like a car.
As well as a balanced diet, it is important to exercise everyday, like walking, running, playing football, dancing or swimming to help the body stay healthy and fit.
